Young Leaders from Africa Visit the Free Clinic

An impressive group of Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders recently met with Free Clinic’s Executive Director and members of the Philanthropy Team to learn more about our work to expand access to health care for the uninsured in Charlottesville and ideas on fundraising that they could bring back to their respective organizations. The Fellows are rising leaders aged 25-35 from Sub-Saharan Africa who have already begun great work in their home countries in a variety of sectors – law, business, women’s empowerment, and public health. The group was in Charlottesville as part of a six-week Civic Leadership Institute where the Fellows participate in academic sessions, cultural and social activities, networking, and community service and engagement at a variety of organizations in Washington DC, Williamsburg, and Charlottesville.
A special thanks to our friends at The Presidential Precinct for facilitating the visit.
